PIECES

The PIECES project will research the implementation of evidence-based cancer prevention measures. The project aims to develop, evaluate and make available a methodological implementation tool that is specifically aimed at cancer prevention.

PIECES - Cancer - Risk factors

The PIECES project is an ambitious project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, where Helse Bergen/Haukeland University Hospital is one of the partners in the project.

The implementation tool focuses on six risk factors for cancer: tobacco, alcohol, UV radiation, HPV, nutrition and physical activity.

Given the high and increasing global burden of cancer, successful implementation of cancer prevention programs is essential. Many evidence-based programs often face challenges when they are implemented in real settings. The PIECES project aims to overcome these challenges and lay the foundations for successful cancer prevention measures on a global scale.

The PIECES project will offer a digital tool that contributes to the identification, selection and adaptation of cancer prevention programmes. It must also be supported during the development of evidence-based implementation strategies who will take into account local barriers and contexts. The tool contains a comprehensive collection of cancer prevention programs focusing on six risk factors for cancer: tobacco, alcohol, UV radiation, HPV, nutrition and physical activity. In addition, the tool will include theory about behavior change, as well as implementation support.

The PIECES project involves 15 International partners. Link to all partners.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
